Centaurea cyanus 'Black Ball' Seeds

Cornflower Black Ball has large crimson-black flowers and tall grey-green cotton stems.
Sow in spring for summer flowers. Sow again in autumn for extra large plants and masses of flowers next spring.
Cornflowers are extremely hardy annuals, easy to grow and perfect for cutting.

Sow Seeds Easy to grow. Sow outdoors in March/April or August/September
Thin/Plant Out Allow 30/45cm (12-/18 inches) between plants.
Conditions Required Prefers moist but well drained soil in full sun.

Keep picking and dead heading to encourage new flowers.
Centaurea are tall plants and must have support or the stems will bend.

Flower Production Takes 12 weeks to flower from a spring sowing. Flowers May to August.
Picking Pick Cornflowers early in the morning, remove lower leaves and stand in
deep water for a few hours before arranging. Lasts 5-7 days in a vase.
Planting Combinations These deep crimson/black flowers look great with white and lime green flowers.
They grow particularly well with other tall plants such as Ammi majus and Dill.
