Back at home once I’d stopped revelling I delved into my gardening books to try to identify them. I’m not 100 percent sure which tree they were but what I saw seems to fit the description of Prunus ‘Accolade’ a flowering ornamental cherry tree.
- A wide spreading deciduous tree reaching 4-8m in 10 to 20 years.
- Pale pink semi double blossom in March and April.
- Orange and Red foliage colour in autumn.
Apparently the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) have given this tree an AGM (Award of Garden Merit) because it is so good. What’s more they are very hardy trees and will grow in almost any conditions… They prefer full sun and moist but well drained fertile soil.
Now that’s a tree to make you happy is ever I saw one!
Hope you are enjoying the cherry blossom too. Gillian 🙂
