Aquilegia 'Barlow Mixed' Seeds
Aquilegia Barlow Mixed is one of the best early flowering perennials of all. This lovely plant produces masses of attractive deeply divided fresh green leaves with tall stems topped by double flowers in shades of purple and blue, carmine, dusty pink and white. Barlow Mixed Aquielgias are perfect for cut flowers.
Aquilegia are hardy perennial plants often found growing wild in woodland and meadows. They love sun and dappled shade. They are commonly known as Columbine or Granny's Bonnet because the shape of each flower is said to resemble a bonnet.
Aquilegia Barlow Mixed are perfect for large containers and garden borders in cottage gardens. They are also suited to naturalistic planting schemes such as spring gardens and woodland gardens. They grow beautifully with foxgloves, ferns, geraniums and wildflowers.

| Sow Seeds | Sow indoors from February to June in modules at 16-20°C. Cover lightly with vermiculite. Seeds need a cold spell to germinate and usually take no more than 21 days to sprout. Cold Stratification Method |
| Thin/Plant Out | Grow on in 9cm pots then plant out when the soil has warmed up. Allow a minimum space of 45cm per plant. |
| Conditions Required | Aquilegia love moist but well drained soil. They prefer a site with plenty of sunshine and some dappled shade too. Feed and water regularly to keep flower production going for up to 10 weeks. |
| Flower Production | Blooms are usually produced for a good two months from May until June. They usually flower the year after sowing. |
| Picking | Cut flowers regularly and dead-head to make sure that your plants continue to produce new blooms. When cutting place the cut flowers into a tall bucket of clean water. Allow to rest overnight before arranging. Aquilegia lasts up to 5 days as a cut flower if the stems are seared for 20 seconds. |
| Planting Combinations | If you have the space I suggest you grow plenty of these lovely Aquilegia. Grows particularly well with Foxgloves, Ferns, Geraniums and Wildflowers. |
