Scabiosa caucasica Seeds

Scabiosa caucasica is a perennial flower with large glamorous blooms in shades of blue, lilac and white and cream. This is a lovely mix of seeds which are easy to grow and produce masses of flowers for cutting. The more blooms you cut the more you get. Excellent in the garden and perfect for pollinators too.

Genus Scabiosa caucasica
Variety Mixed Hybrids
Plant Type Hardy Perennial. Cut Flower.
Height & Spread 60cm tall (2 feet ) x 50cm wide (20 inches)
Sow Seeds Sow indoors March/June. Needs light to germinate so barely cover seeds. Germinates in 2-3 weeks at 18°-21C. Pot on into 9cm pots after 4 weeks and grow on at 16-21C then plant out after last frosts in your area... usually from May onwards. May also be sown in late August/September for flowering next year.
Thin/Plant Out Allow 50cm (20 inches) between plants. Pinch out to encourage side shoots to develop.
Conditions Required Scabiosa caucasica prefers well drained soil in full sun.
Flower Production Glamorous flowers produced from June to October as long as you keep picking. Seed heads form if you let them.
Picking Pick Scabiosa early in the morning and stand them in deep water for a few hours before arranging. Lasts 7-10 days in a vase. Searing stem ends will give maximum vase life.
Planting Combinations Scabiosa caucasica is one of the loveliest flowers you can grow for cutting. Scabiosa caucasica looks great in the garden or a vase with frothy fillers such as Gypsophila, Ammi, Dill and Daucus.
