Lavender or Lilac?

The Lavender plants lining the path to our front door are not quite as lavender blue as I thought they would be. I’d say they were more of a pale lilac colour. I’m not complaining, it’s just an observation. The scent is quite amazing as the plants release their fragrance in the heat of the day and that more than makes up for the lack of bright colour.

There’s no doubt that they are beautiful with the sun shining through them anyway. They have been flowering all summer and now there are only a few tiny lilac flowers left on each stalk. Each plant is still covered with insects as long for as the sun shines every day. Bees and Butterflies don’t care what colour the flowers are. They enjoy sipping the nectar from the base of each tiny flower. What’s left of the flowers is turning a beautiful silvery grey colour. They seem to shimmer in the sun light.

In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Monochromatic.”

I’m not sure that this is as monochromatic as it could be… but it’s a departure from my usual full colour photos!

Have a great weekend everyone.
