Looking Good 13th May

I hope you don’t mind a few more photos of Tulips! These shots were taken at Gresgarth Garden last weekend when the sun was shining brightly. It’s a little cooler here today but these pictures show how Tulips can look on a warm spring day.

Here’s Gresgarth House. Leaping forward in the picture are the bright red tulips in huge tubs on the terrace. Red is an advancing colour. It hits you right between the eyes and demands attention.

The pots weren’t all red and white… there were some lovely pinks too enhanced by a skirt of pale blue forget-me-nots.

Elsewhere in the garden Tulips were planted in the borders. I particularly loved this combination of dark foliage (Anthriscus ‘Ravens Wing’ I think) with some lovely fresh lime green strappy leaves and striking bi coloured tulips. I am so sorry that I can’t name the tulips for you but I do think the photos are worth sharing because of the original ways they have been used throughout the garden.

I must remember to be a little more adventurous when I’m ordering my tulip bulbs for next year! Wishing you a lovely weekend. Happy Gardening!  Gillian 🙂
