When I think of orange flowers I feel happy. My first thoughts are of warm summer days and bright orange Marigolds. Later in the season there are masses of Heleniums and other tall orangey/yellow perennials. But there are also some early spring flowers in all shades of orange… and that’s right when I feel that I need an intense shot of colour.
Orange Primroses and Tulips can be grown in containers or in the ground. I love to have lots of tulips planted in the borders with wallflowers. I also like to pot up some terracotta pots with bulbs or small plants for my little table outside my garden studio. That way I can enjoy them at close quarters with my morning coffee.
I know that some people aren’t too keen on orange… but I love it!
Todays post was inspired by Cees Fun Photo Challenge.
Do you have orange plants in your garden? Are you joining in this week?
Happy Gardening Gillian 🙂
I love orange flowers too–as well as yellow. You know—it’s cold and damp and gray here in Pennsylvania and the photos of your flowers just gave me a rush of the warmth of Spring and put a smile on my face. Thank you!
Thanks Catherine!
These flowers are beautiful. 😀
Thanks Cee.
These are lovely, Gillian, and oh, so cheerful, esp. on a gray day like today. 🙂
Not long until spring now Eliza!
Some of the Dogwoods like ‘Midwinter Fire’ could be described as giving a splash of orange at this time of year. Especially when the sun catches the stems.
Yes indeed. Hurrah for winter stems and berries!
I have grown to really like orange over the last few years. Your primula look lovely with the terracotta
Me too! Thanks Dorris.
These definitely brightened my day.
There’s no doubt that orange is a happy cheerful colour is there Lulu?
I feel the same, Gillian, and wouldn’t we all like some warmth right now. I’ve got some orange in the garden, Euphorbia griffithii Fireglow being my favourite.
Oooh lovely… I grow that too… It runs around my summer border. I love the way the new shoots appear like asparagus spears each spring.
Very pretty. I am a recent convert to orange, after admiring everyone’s orange tulip combinations last year in fact!
Thanks Allison. Good for you!
wow! The flowers are beautiful. Thank you for bringing them, you have suggested me the flowers that I am planting on my own garden. Thank so much.
