Meet the Locals

It’s raining. It rained all night and it’s set to rain all morning here in Lancashire in North West England. So I thought that I would look back at some photos taken when the sun was shining. I have lots of lovely pictures of places we have been, gardens we have visited and our own garden. Flicking through the pictures is a joy. They capture a moment in time and bring back very happy memories of warm summer days and crisp frosty mornings.

In a Jam Jar on Monday

sweet-peas-jarFor In a vase on Monday I’m using an empty jam Jar this week. In my view there’s no need for proper vases all the time, especially for a simple bunch of sweet peas. Sweet peas shout out country style to me. The flowers are the stars I think.

Calendula officinalis

I grow Calendula officinalis every year from seed. It’s a hardy annual with big curved seeds. They are very easy to grow… so if you have small children who would like to grow their own flowers then these are just perfect. This year I have grown several different types of Calendula.
